5 Ways to BLESS your Family
September 12, 2018 | Tyson Herald
This year our church initiative is to BLESS everyone around us. This starts at home, moves thru the church, and hopefully will end with us being a blessing to those outside the church. After all, if we’re not blessing our family or church we have no business trying to BLESS those outside the church. (Galatians 6:10, 1 Timothy 5:8)
Here’s a couple ideas on how you can BLESS your family:
BLESS them with service: Look for ways to serve the members of your family. Maybe it’s doing a chore they despise or helping them with a task that is more difficult for them. Do a service project together. Maybe it’s just for your family or perhaps someone in need. It’s amazing what happens when we serve together. There’s an instant bond when we’re working towards the same goal.
BLESS them with kind words: Have each family member say what they appreciate about each member of the family. Consider writing a note to each family member if saying it out loud seems difficult.
BLESS them with prayer: Not the typical prayer of “help us have a good day” but what specific things could you pray for each other? A struggle they might have, a temptation they face, a stressful season at work or school, a difficult person they interact with, a friend who doesn’t know Jesus.
BLESS them with scripture: Our church has a monthly verse you can find here. What if you memorized that as family and tried to apply it to your family?
BLESS them with your presence: Put the phones down. Have a conversation, go for a walk as a family, go to the park, plan an event together, play a game-just have fun!
Whatever you decide, don't miss the chance to be used by God to BLESS your family this week! Don't make it harder than it has to be. Start small and seek what the Lord may have you do.
